Most B2B quotes for Shopify are priced against how it worked three years ago, when wholesale meant a second store held together with customer tags and draft orders. Native B2B on Plus changed that, and a lot of scope that used to be custom is now configuration.
The ranges
| Native B2B setupCompany accounts, price lists, terms, catalogue rules | $8,000 - $20,000 |
| B2B with custom logicApproval flows, quoting, complex pricing hierarchies | $20,000 - $45,000 |
| B2B plus ERPThe above with real-time stock, pricing and order sync | $40,000 - $90,000+ |
Plus itself starts around $2,300/month and is separate from the build.
What native B2B covers
Company accounts with multiple buyers, price lists per customer or segment, payment terms and net accounts, quantity rules, and a catalogue that differs by company. For a large share of wholesalers this is the whole requirement, and the build is setting it up properly rather than engineering it.
Get a quote that distinguishes configuration from development. If an agency is pricing native B2B features as custom work, they are either behind on the platform or hoping you are.
What still takes real work
Approval workflows. A buyer submitting an order for someone else to authorise is not native and has to be built.
Quoting. Request a quote, negotiate, convert to an order. Common in B2B and not out of the box.
Pricing hierarchies with rules. Volume breaks layered on contract pricing layered on promotions. Price lists handle a lot but not everything.
ERP as the source of truth. This is usually the largest workstream in any B2B project, and it is where the number moves most.
The decision most brands get wrong
Running DTC and wholesale as two separate stores feels tidy and multiplies the work permanently — two catalogues, two inventory positions, two sets of everything. Native B2B on one store with company-level catalogues is almost always the better structure.
The exception is a genuinely different catalogue with different products, different branding and a different team.
