This category is worth approaching sceptically, because native B2B on Shopify Plus now covers a large share of what these apps were built for.
What native B2B does
Company accounts with multiple buyers, price lists per customer or segment, payment terms and net accounts, quantity rules, and catalogues that differ by company. On Plus, that is configuration rather than an app.
If you are on Plus and being sold an app for any of the above, ask why.
Where apps still earn their place
On standard Shopify. If you are not on Plus, you need an app or a workaround, and this is the honest case for the category.
Quoting. Request a quote, negotiate, convert to order. Not native.
Approval workflows. A buyer submitting for someone else to authorise. Not native.
Complex pricing rules. Volume breaks layered over contract pricing layered over promotions, beyond what price lists express.
The options
Shopify native B2B — Plus only. Start here if you are on Plus.
SparkLayer — well regarded, works on standard Shopify, good wholesale experience and ordering interface.
B2B Wholesale Solution (BSS) — broad feature set, widely used, cost-effective.
Wholesale Gorilla — straightforward wholesale pricing and ordering for standard Shopify.
Pandectes / quoting apps — narrower, for the quote-to-order flow specifically.
| Best for | Watch | |
|---|---|---|
| Native B2B | Plus merchants | Plus only |
| SparkLayer | Standard Shopify wholesale | Monthly cost |
| BSS B2B | Feature breadth on a budget | Interface |
| Wholesale Gorilla | Simple wholesale pricing | Narrower |
| Quoting apps | Quote-to-order | Single purpose |
Before buying anything, work out what proportion of revenue is wholesale. If it is substantial, the Plus fee plus native B2B frequently costs less than the app stack plus the manual work it does not remove.
